Strong high pressure northeast of the basin will drift southward over the western Atlantic today and settle east of Florida through the remainder of the week. Fresh to locally strong easterly winds over the southeastern gulf supported by the high today will decrease to moderate to fresh tonight. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening and move westward over the eastern Bay of Campeche overnight supporting mainly fresh winds, except fresh to locally strong early this morning and again tonight. Mainly moderate east to southeast winds will prevail elsewhere through the forecast period. Seas of 4 to 7 ft over the southeast Gulf through tonight will decrease to 3 to 5 ft the remainder of the week. Seas will increase to 4 to 6 ft each night the next two nights over the eastern Bay of Campeche. Seas of 3 to 5 ft will prevail the next two days over the remainder of the Gulf, decreasing to 2 to 4 ft by mid week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure building north of the Caribbean will support fresh to strong northeast winds across the central Caribbean through tonight. Winds over the central Caribbean will diminish to moderate to fresh on Monday as the high settles east of Florida and weakens slightly. Winds along the coast of Colombia will pulse briefly to strong on Monday night. Then, the gradient will relax to the point that the nocturnal effects north of the Colombia coast will only increase winds to 15 to 20 kt the remainder of the week. Elsewhere, moderate to fresh trades will prevail across the Caribbean through the week. Large swell of 8 to 11 ft generated by a storm system over the central Atlantic will propagate south, reaching the tropical Atlantic zones by tonight, and spreading across all the tropical Atlantic zones through Wednesday. Seas will finally subside below 8 ft by Thursday. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Strong high pressure building southward toward Bermuda is supporting strong northeast to east winds mainly south of 27N this morning with a broader area of seas of 8 to 11 ft covering nearly all the forecast waters, except for southeastern zone AMZ127, and the northern portions of our northwestern zones. The high will continue to build southward through tonight, then will meander east of northern Florida through the remainder of the week. Winds will taper off slightly across the southern zones through tonight as a result, with gentle to moderate winds developing across the northern zones through Wednesday. The combination of the southern zone winds and swell from a departing storm system over the central atlantic will support seas of 8 to 10 ft east of the Bahamas over all of the southern zones tonight through at least Tuesday night. Beyond Wednesday, the high will expand in coverage resulting in winds decreasing over the southern zones to 15 to 20 kt, while maintaining gentle to moderate winds over the northern zones through Friday. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
