MODEL PREFERENCE: Global model consensus. High confidence through Tuesday, then medium confidence Wednesday with regards to the potential for gale force winds over the southwest Gulf. A cold front is moving through the northeast waters. Latest satellite derived winds along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict gentle to moderate winds over the western Gulf with light to gentle winds over the eastern Gulf. Seas are in the 4-5 ft range over the southwest Gulf, 3-4 ft over the northwest Gulf, and 1-3 ft over the eastern Gulf. The cold front will shift east of the area tonight. A second cold front will move into the northwest waters Tuesday night into Wednesday. The front will shift across the Gulf waters, and move southeast of the area by Thursday afternoon. Fresh to strong winds will prevail behind the front through Wednesday. Gale force winds are possible over the southwest waters west of the front on Wednesday. High pressure will build in the wake of the front. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... MODEL PREFERENCE: Global model consensus. High confidence. Seas are in the 6-9 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 4-5 ft elsewhere over the Caribbean, and 6-7 ft over the tropical north Atlantic waters. High pressure will remain weak north of the area. This will result in winds and seas diminishing over the Caribbean waters this week. A set of northwesterly swells will propagate into the tropical north Atlantic midweek.
