DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Linda was located
near latitude 15.3 North, longitude 108.7 West.  Linda is moving
toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and this 
general motion is expected to continue through Saturday night.  A 
turn toward the west is expected on Sunday.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of 
days.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles
(165 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 990 mb (29.24 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of
the coast of southwestern Mexico over the next few days and should
reach the southern and western coast of Baja California Sur on
Friday.  These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and
rip current conditions.  Please consult products from your local
weather office.
