SUMMARY OF 600 AM MDT...1200 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...24.6N 114.6W ABOUT 145 MI...235 KM W OF CABO SAN LAZARO MEXICO MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...45 MPH...75 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 295 DEGREES AT 9 MPH...15 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1001 MB...29.56 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY: The government of Mexico as discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning for the west coast of the Baja California peninsula. SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your national meteorological service. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 600 AM MDT (1200 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Genevieve was located near latitude 24.6 North, longitude 114.6 West. Genevieve is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue during the next few days. On the forecast track, the center of Genevieve will move farther away from the Baja California peninsula. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is expected, and Genevieve is forecast to degenerate into a post-tropical cyclone later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Large swells produced by Genevieve are spreading northward along the coast of the Baja California peninsula. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
