SUMMARY OF 500 AM HST...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...18.7N 139.2W ABOUT 1040 MI...1670 KM E OF HILO HAWAII ABOUT 1910 MI...3075 KM W OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 270 DEGREES AT 17 MPH...28 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1000 MB...29.53 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Barbara was located near latitude 18.7 North, longitude 139.2 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the west near 17 mph (28 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. The system is forecast to dissipate in a few days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
