DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Sergio was located
near latitude 10.7 North, longitude 113.2 West. Sergio is moving
toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general motion
is forecast to continue today.  A turn toward the west-northwest is
expected by tonight and a northwestward motion is forecast on
Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected during the
next couple of days, and Sergio is forecast to be near major
hurricane strength by Wednesday or Wednesday night.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles
(205 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 986 mb (29.12 inches).
