DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paul was
located near latitude 17.1 North, longitude 117.5 West. Paul is
moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h) and this
motion is expected to continue for another day or two.  A turn to
the west-northwest is expected to occur by late Monday or Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with
higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next
couple of days, but slow weakening is expected to begin by Tuesday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
