DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Miriam was
located near latitude 25.3 North, longitude 142.9 West. Miriam is
moving toward the north-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A gradual
turn toward the northwest is expected later tonight and Sunday. 
This northwestward motion is forecast to continue Sunday night and
Monday.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Additional weakening is forecast, and Miriam is expected to become
a tropical depression later tonight. The latest forecast indicates
the depression will weaken to a post-tropical remnant low late
Sunday, followed by dissipation on Monday.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 85 miles (140 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
