DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Miriam was located near latitude 23.3 North, longitude 141.5 West. Miriam is moving toward the north-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A gradual turn toward the northwest is expected through Sunday, with a continued northwestward motion through dissipation late Monday or Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Rapid weakening will occur over the next couple of days, and Miriam is forecast to become a post-tropical remnant low late Sunday or early Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 110 miles (175 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
