A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for...
* Kure Atoll and Midway Atoll.
 
A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are
possible across the watch area within 48 hours.
 
 
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 PM HST (0600 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hector was
located near latitude 24.7 North, longitude 177.9 West. Hector is
moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h), and this
general motion is expected to continue through Tuesday.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some weakening is forecast during the next couple of days.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Hector is producing swell that will affect portions of the
Northwestern Hawaiian Islands over the next couple of days. The
large southeast seas and swells will peak between Maro Reef and
Lisianski Island tonight, and across Pearl and Hermes, Midway Atoll,
and Kure Atoll from tonight through Monday.
 
WIND:  Tropical Storm conditions are possible across Kure Atoll and
Midway Atoll later tonight and Monday.
