SUMMARY OF 800 AM PDT...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...16.0N 115.9W ABOUT 615 MI...990 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...N OR 350 DEGREES AT 10 MPH...17 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1006 MB...29.71 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Daniel was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 115.9 West. Daniel is moving toward the north near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this general motion is forecast to continue today. A turn toward the northwest is expected on Monday, followed by a westward motion on Tuesday that will continue through the middle of the week. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Slight strengthening is expected through tonight. A weakening trend should begin on Monday, and the cyclone will likely become a remnant low by the middle of the week. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
