DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 114.5 West. Aletta is moving toward the west near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through late Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast, and Aletta could degenerate into a remnant low withing the next day or so. HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Aletta will affect portions of the coast of west-central mainland Mexico and the west coast of Baja California Sur through the weekend. Swells are expected to build even higher along these areas early next week due to Tropical Storm Bud to the east of Aletta. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
