DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Aletta was located
near latitude 15.6 North, longitude 110.3 West.  Aletta is moving
toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h).  A west-northwestward
or northwestward motion at a similar forward speed is expected
through the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 100 mph (155 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected through
Friday.  Weakening is forecast to begin by Saturday, with Aletta
likely weakening to a tropical storm on Sunday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105
miles (165 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 973 mb (28.74 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Aletta will begin to affect portions of
the coast of west-central mainland Mexico and the west coast of
Baja California Sur on Friday and will continue through the
weekend.  These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and
rip current conditions.  Please consult products from your local
weather office.
