DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Irwin was
located near latitude 15.6 North, longitude 124.5 West. Irwin is
moving toward the north near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn to the
north-northwest with an increase in forward speed is expected
tonight.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts.
No important change in intensity is expected during the next 12
hours or so. Gradual weakening should begin thereafter.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
