DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Fernanda was
located near latitude 12.1 North, longitude 126.2 West. Fernanda is
moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this
motion is expected to continue with some decrease in forward speed
during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 130 mph (215 km/h)
with higher gusts. Fernanda has again become a category 4 hurricane
on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some fluctuations in
strength will be possible today, followed by weakening on Monday.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles
(130 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure is 953 mb (28.15 inches).
