CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY:

The Government of Mexico has discontinued the Tropical Storm
Warning east of Salina Cruz and west of Laguna De Chacahua.

SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for...
* The Pacific coast of southeastern Mexico from Laguna De Chacahua
to Salina Cruz.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 1000 PM CDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Calvin was
located inland by surface observations near latitude 16.0 North,
longitude 95.8 West. Calvin is moving toward the northwest near 5
mph (7 km/h). A motion toward the west-northwest or west is expected
through Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Calvin will
continue to move inland over southeastern Mexico tonight and early
Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher
gusts. Steady weakening is forecast through Tuesday, and Calvin
is expected to become a tropical depression by early Tuesday as the
system interacts with the mountainous terrain of Mexico.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km)
from the center, mainly over water.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

RAINFALL:  Calvin is expected to produce total rainfall
accumulations of 5 to 10 inches across the Mexican states of
Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Guerrero, with possible isolated maximum
amounts of 20 inches. More than 10 inches of rain have already
fallen in Salina Cruz in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Calvin is
also forecast to produce total rainfall accumulations of 4 to 6
inches in the Mexican states of Tabasco and Veracruz, as well as in
Guatemala. More than 5 inches of rain has fallen in the city of
Veracruz thus far. These rains are expected to produce
life-threatening flash floods and mudslides.

WIND:  Tropical storm conditions should subside by early Tuesday.
