DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paine was
located near latitude 19.5 North, longitude 113.8 West. Paine is
moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h), and a turn toward
the north-northwest and north is expected over the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected, and
Paine is forecast to become a hurricane tonight or early Monday.
A weakening trend should begin by Monday night.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).
