DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Lester was located
near latitude 18.1 North, longitude 123.7 West. Lester is moving
toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this motion is expected
to continue during the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 85 mph (140 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Little change in strength is forecast during the
next day or two.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles
(165 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 979 mb (28.91 inches).
