DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Howard was
located near latitude 18.8 North, longitude 128.9 West.  Howard is
moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this
general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts.
Gradual weakening is forecast to begin by tonight and Wednesday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).
