DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Georgette was
located near latitude 18.0 North, longitude 127.9 West.  Georgette
is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h) and this motion
is expected to continue at a slower forward speed through Tuesday
night.  A turn toward the west-northwest and an increase in forward
speed are forecast on Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 110 mph (175 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Rapid weakening is forecast during the next 48
hours, and Georgette is expected to weaken to a tropical storm
Tuesday night.

Georgette is a small hurricane.  Hurricane-force winds extend
outward up to 10 miles (20 km) from the center and tropical-storm-
force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 969 mb (28.62 inches).
