DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Georgette was
located near latitude 16.3 North, longitude 126.1 West. Georgette is
moving toward the northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). This heading with
a decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of
days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 130 mph (215 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Georgette is a category 4 hurricane on the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Little change in intensity is
expected tonight, but weakening is forecast to commence on Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles
(130 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 952 mb (28.12 inches).
