SUMMARY OF 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...15.0N 122.5W ABOUT 985 MI...1585 KM WSW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...80 MPH...130 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 275 DEGREES AT 14 MPH...22 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...988 MB...29.18 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Celia was located near latitude 15.0 North, longitude 122.5 West. Celia is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through Monday. A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast to begin by Monday night. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through Monday. Slow weakening is forecast to begin on Tuesday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km).
