DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Blas was
located near latitude 12.2 North, longitude 111.4 West.  Blas is
moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this
motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is forecast, and Blas
is expected to become a hurricane on Monday and a major hurricane by
Tuesday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches).
