DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Blas was
located near latitude 11.7 North, longitude 109.7 West. Blas is
moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h), and a
general westward to west-northwestward motion at a similar forward
speed is expected to continue through Monday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected during the next
48 hours, and Blas is forecast to become a hurricane on Monday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
