DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Olaf was
located near latitude 9.5 North, longitude 128.5 West.  Olaf is
moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this general
motion is expected to continue with a decrease in forward speed
through tonight.  A turn toward the west-northwest is expected by
Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is forecast during the
next 48 hours, and Olaf could become a hurricane later tonight or
Sunday morning.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
