SUMMARY OF 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...12.7N 134.8W ABOUT 1430 MI...2300 KM ESE OF HILO HAWAII MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...105 MPH...165 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 285 DEGREES AT 18 MPH...30 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...970 MB...28.65 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Guillermo was located near latitude 12.7 North, longitude 134.8 West. Guillermo is moving toward the west-northwest near 18 mph (30 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue today with a gradual decrease in forward speed on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Guillermo is forecast to become a major hurricane tonight or Saturday. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb (28.65 inches).
