WATCHES AND WARNINGS

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Interests on the southern Baja California peninsula should monitor
the progress of Blanca.  A tropical storm or hurricane watch will
likely be required for a portion of Baja California Sur on Friday.


DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 1000 PM CDT (0300 UTC), the large eye of Hurricane Blanca was
located near latitude 13.7 North, longitude 105.7 West.  Blanca is
moving toward the north-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h).  A
northwestward or north-northwestward motion with an increase in
forward speed is expected through late Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some slight strengthening is possible during the next 24 to
36 hours, but weakening should begin by late Saturday.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the
center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 195 miles
(315 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 975 mb (28.80 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Blanca are affecting the coast of
southwestern Mexico and will reach the Pacific coast of the Baja
California peninsula, as well as the southern Gulf of California,
on Friday.  These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf
and rip current conditions.  Please consult products from your local
weather office.
