A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM PORT ARANSAS TO HIGH
ISLAND TEXAS.
SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT THE POORLY-DEFINED CENTER OF
TROPICAL STORM FAY HAS REFORMED TO THE NORTHWEST OF ITS PREVIOUS
LOCATION AND IS NOW INLAND.
AT 7 AM CDT...1200Z...THE BROAD AND POORLY-DEFINED CENTER OF
TROPICAL STORM FAY WAS RELOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 28.8 NORTH...
LONGITUDE 96.5 WEST OR ABOUT 25 MILES NORTHWEST OF PALACIOS TEXAS.
ALTHOUGH THE CENTER HAS SHIFTED TO THE NORTHWEST OF THE PREVIOUS
LOCATION...IT NOW APPEARS TO BE MOVING SLOWLY WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT
AROUND 5 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TODAY...
WHICH WOULD BRING FAY FARTHER INLAND OVER TEXAS.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
WEAKENING IS FORECAST TODAY AS FAY MOVES OVER LAND.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 140 MILES...MAINLY
TO THE EAST AND NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER.
