SUBJECT:     TROPICAL PREDICTION CENTER/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER 
             AND CARIBOU MAINE WEATHER FORECAST OFFICE /WFO/ TO 
             TEST A TROPICAL CYCLONE PRODUCT ON THURSDAY 
             JANUARY 11 2007 

A TEST OF A TROPICAL CYCLONE PRODUCT WILL BE CONDUCTED ON JANUARY 
11 2007 FROM APPROXIMATELY 0900 TO 1100 A.M. EASTERN STANDARD 
TIME.  THE SOFTWARE TEST IS A FINAL STEP TO ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS 
READY FOR FULL OPERATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION BY THE NWS ON JUNE 1 
2007.

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER /NHC/ WILL ISSUE FOUR TEST PRODUCTS 
FOR THE TROPICAL CYCLONE VALID TIME EVENT CODE PRODUCT /TCV/ ON 
JANUARY 11 2007.  THE SERIES OF TEST PRODUCTS WILL SIMULATE THE 
ISSUANCE AND CANCELLATION OF TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCHES AND 
WARNINGS.  THE TEST PRODUCTS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE WORD 
/TEST/ IN THE MASS NEWS DISSEMINATOR HEADER BLOCK AS WELL AS 
SEVERAL REFERENCES TO /TEST/ IN THE BODY OF THE PRODUCT.

ISSUANCE OF THE TEST TCV/S BY THE NHC WILL IMPACT THE FOLLOWING 
UNIVERSAL GEOGRAPHIC CODES /UGC/ ZONES IN THE CARIBOU COUNTY 
WARNING FORECAST AREA:

ISSUANCE OF EACH TEST TCV BY THE NHC WILL IMPACT THE MARINE 
FORECAST PRODUCT ROUTINELY ISSUED BY WFO CARIBOU.  
SPECIFICALLY...THE ISSUANCE AND CANCELLATION OF TROPICAL CYCLONE 
WATCH AND WARNING HEADLINES...ACCOMPANIED BY THE WORD /TEST/... 
WILL APPEAR IN THE FOLLOWING PRODUCT OF THE TEST PROCESS:

THIS PRODUCT MAY ALSO BE HIGHLIGHTED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME 
ON VARIOUS INTERNET SITES.

THE TCV WAS AN EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCT FOR THE 2005 AND 2006 
HURRICANE SEASONS.  A SEPARATE NATIONAL SERVICE CHANGE NOTICE 
WILL BE DISSEMINATED IN THE COMING WEEKS CONCERNING THE 
OPERATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TCV FOR THE 2007 SEASON.

ANY UNEXPECTED DELAY OR RESCHEDULE OF THE TEST WILL BE ANNOUNCED 
THROUGH A SUCCEEDING PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT.
