SUBJECT:    TROPICAL CYCLONE STORM SURGE DISPLAY
            PROGRAM NOW ONLINE 

THE NWS METEOROLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY /MDL/...IN 
CONJUNCTION WITH A PROJECT SPONSORED BY NOAA/S INTEGRATED OCEAN 
OBSERVING PROGRAM /IOOS/...HAS ENHANCED THE SEA...LAKE AND 
OVERLAND SURGES FROM HURRICANES /SLOSH/ DISPLAY PROGRAM. THE 
PROGRAM IS ONLINE FOR THE FIRST TIME.

THE LATEST VERSION OF THE SLOSH DISPLAY PROGRAM MAY BE 
DOWNLOADED ONLINE AT /USE LOWERCASE FOR ALL LETTERS EXCEPT THE 
FINAL P/:

  HTTP://SLOSH.NWS.NOAA.GOV/SLOSHPUB

FIRST-TIME USERS WILL NEED TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING 
A USER NAME AND PASSWORD. USERS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO CONSULT 
THE ONLINE TRAINING INFORMATION ABOUT SLOSH. 

THE LATEST ENHANCEMENTS TO THE SLOSH DISPLAY PROGRAM INCLUDE:
-ABILITY TO SHOW INUNDATION /SURGE ABOVE LAND/
-MORE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM /GIS/ LAYERS
-ABILITY TO DISPLAY USER-PROVIDED SHAPE FILES.

ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS WILL INTEGRATE...ON AN EXPERIMENTAL 
BASIS FOR 2009...OCEAN AND COASTAL OBSERVATIONS THROUGH AN IOOS 
DATA INTEGRATION FRAMEWORK...PROVIDING NATIONAL OCEAN SERVICE 
AND NATIONAL DATA BUOY CENTER POINT OBSERVATIONS AND OTHER 
DERIVED PRODUCTS INTO THE DISPLAY.
