For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Eight-E, located about midway between the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and the Hawaiian Islands.

A low-latitude area of low pressure centered about 1300 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms. Recent satellite data indicate that the circulation is becoming better defined, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next couple of days while the system moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent
