For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Depression Eight-E, located a little more than a thousand miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.

Disorganized showers and thunderstorms about 1000 miles south- southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula are associated with a broad area of low pressure. Environmental conditions are expected to be generally conducive for development, and this system is likely to become a tropical depression later this week while moving westward at 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent
