**IDA BECOMES A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER MISSISSIPPI**

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------
Tropical Depression Ida continues to gradually weaken as it lifts
northward across central Mississippi this afternoon. While tropical
storm force winds are no longer anticipated, the combination of
lingering gusty winds this evening and rain-soaked soils may still
result in downed trees or power lines across portions of northern
and central Mississippi and southeast Arkansas. Flash flooding will
remain possible across portions of northern and eastern Mississippi
through this evening. Finally, a tornado still cannot be ruled out
across eastern Mississippi through early this evening. Ida will
continue to weaken tonight as it continues to move northward and out
of the area.

Little to no additional impacts are anticipated at this time
across Central Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana, and extreme
Southeast Arkansas.
* FLOODING RAIN:
Little to no additional impacts are anticipated at this time
across Central Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana, and extreme
Southeast Arkansas.
* TORNADOES:
Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time
across Central Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana, and extreme
Southeast Arkansas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have
given the all clear to return.
* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Do not go sightseeing within impacted communities. Sightseers
interfere with the emergency work of first responders.
When clearing out fallen trees, be careful with chainsaws and axes.
Always wear protective gear and keep others at a safe distance.
Leaning trees and those which have fallen on roofs or power lines can
be especially dangerous. If you are not in good health or unsure
about what you are doing, have someone with tree cutting experience
do the job. Never cut trees without a partner.
If using a generator, avoid carbon monoxide poisoning by following
instructions provided by the manufacturer. Operate your generator in
a well-ventilated space outside of your living area and away from
open doors and windows.
