A low pressure area could form within this disturbance during the few days, but any further development should be slow to occur. This system is forecast to move generally westward into the Central Pacific basin by Monday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent Satellite data indicate that a low pressure area has formed about 900 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. The associated shower and thunderstorm activity, however, is not co- located with the surface circulation. Environmental conditions are expected to be only marginally conducive for any additional development during the next couple of days while this system moves generally west-northwestward. After that time, the disturbance is likely to encounter a much drier air mass, which would likely preclude tropical cyclone formation. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent $$ Forecaster Kimberlain
