Any development of this system is expected to be limited during the next few days while it moves slowly northward or northwestward due to potential interaction with land and a developing disturbance located to the southwest. Regardless of tropical cyclone development, this system could produce heavy rainfall over portions of El Salvador, southern Guatemala, and southeastern Mexico during the next few days. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent A low pressure system is expected to form later this week within a large area of disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms located several hundred miles south-southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec.
