Surface observations indicate that gale-force winds have been occurring in brief squalls mainly to the east of the center. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form during the next couple of days while it moves west-northwestward over the Bahamas and then turns northwestward.
