The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0300 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends southwest from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica at 08N84W to 07N90W to 07N96W where the ITCZ begins and continues west along 06N120W to 05N140W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted in the vicinity of the trough from 04N to 08N between 84W and 98W and from 04N to 12N between 100W and 120W. Scattered moderate convection is within 150 nm either side of the ITCZ west of 120W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A northwest to southeast ridge will prevail through the entire forecast period. A slightly tight pressure gradient between the ridge and broad low pressure over the western half of the United States will continue to support fresh northwest flow across the open waters N of 27N west of the Baja Peninsula. Winds will diminish to moderate northerly breeze by late Wed night as the area of low pressure N of the area weaken before dissipating on Thu. Associated seas will subside to less than 8 ft by late Wed. Gulf of California: Light to gentle southerly winds are expected to increase to a strong southwest breeze along 30N on Mon morning, and then resume Mon night continuing to early Wed. Seas will building to a maximum of 7 ft. Gulf of Tehuantepec: The next strong event may begin Sat morning. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gulf of Papagayo: Moderate to locally fresh northeast nocturnal winds are expected though tonight, with fresh to locally strong nocturnal drainage flow then forecast on Mon and Tue nights. Gulf of Panama: Gentle to moderate nocturnal flow is forecast for the next several nights. Elsewhere, light to gentle winds will prevail through Mon, accompanied by 3 to 6 ft seas.
