The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1530 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... Surface trough extends from 10N85W to 07N93W to 06N100W. The ITCZ extends from 06N100W to 08N120W to beyond 06N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted within 75 nm on either side of the trough between 93W-100W. Another area of scattered moderate convection is observed within 240 nm to the north of the ITCZ between 110W-124W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A ridge west of Baja California will strengthen during this weekend. Moderate to fresh northwest flow in offshore waters will become fresh to locally strong by Fri through Sat night. Fresh to strong northerly winds are possible in the Gulf of Tehuantepec this weekend. Light to gentle W to NW winds are expected in the Gulf of California through Saturday. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh northeast nocturnal winds are expected in and downstream of the Gulf of Papagayo through tonight, while gentle nocturnal flow is forecast to continue through the week downstream of the Gulf of Panama. Gentle to moderate offshore flow will prevail elsewhere N of 09N, and light to gentle SW winds are expected S of 09N. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A cold front extends from 31N133W to 26N140W. This front will move slowly east and then dissipate later today. 7-9 ft NW swell associated with the front will gradually subside through this evening. A ridge will build behind the front Thu and Fri. Fresh northeast trade winds and 7-9 ft seas are observed across the tropical waters between 07N and 18N, south of the subtropical ridge and north of the the ITCZ. Little change is expected through the remainder of the week. 7-8 ft southerly swell observed south of the equator between 90W and 120W will gradually subside through Thursday morning. $$ ERA
