Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends west from the coast of Panama near 08N78W to 05N98W, where the ITCZ continues westward to 06N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 11N between 108W and 1317W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A ridge will meander west of Baja California during the next several days, with gentle to moderate NW winds and 4 to 7 ft seas expected west of the Baja Peninsula. The pressure gradient is forecast to tighten on Wed, resulting in fresh NW flow near the coast Thu and Fri. Gulf of Tehuantepec: Fresh to strong nocturnal flow this morning will diminish later today, and remain moderate to fresh the rest of the week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gulf of Papagayo: Fresh northeast nocturnal winds are expected tonight, with seas building to 6-7 ft downstream near 11N88W. Moderate to fresh nocturnal flow is expected the rest of the week. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate offshore flow will prevail N of 09N, while light to gentle SW winds are forecast S of 09N. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A cold front reaching 30N140W will weaken from 30N136W to 26N140W this evening, then dissipate on Wed. Large 8-10 ft NW swell will affect the area NW of a line from 30N128W to 22N140W tonight and Wed. Fresh northeast trades and 6-8 ft seas are observed across the tropical waters north of the ITCZ to 17N, with little change expected through the remainder of this week.
