The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0500 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... An eastern Atlantic tropical wave is near 24W from 20N southward across the Cabo Verde Islands, and moving west around 10 kt. Scattered moderate convection is found from 09N to 12N between 20W and 29W. A central Atlantic tropical wave is near 44W from 20N southward, and moving west around 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is present from 06N to 11N between 43W and 47W. A central Caribbean tropical wave is near 71W from just south of the Dominican Republic southward across northwestern Venezuela into east-central Colombia, and moving west around 10 kt. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are occurring over the same parts of Venezuela and Colombia. A western Caribbean tropical wave is near 87W from near Cancun, Mexico southward across Honduras and El Salvador into the East Pacific, and moving west at 15 to 20 kt. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are seen along the east Yucatan coast and near the Mexico-Honduras-El Salvador border. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... A monsoon trough enters the Atlantic near the Western Sahara- Mauritania border across the Cabo Verde Islands to 10N29W. Scattered showers are noted south of the trough near the coast of Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone. An ITCZ continues from 10N29W to 10N42W, then from 08N47W to the Guyana coast northwest of Georgetown. Scattered moderate convection is evident up to 120 nm along either side of both ITCZ segments. The eastern end of the East Pacific monsoon trough is producing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over Panama and northwestern Colombia, and nearby Caribbean waters. ...GULF OF MEXICO... Two surface troughs are triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Bay of Campeche, and across northern and central Florida. A surface ridge extending southwestward from a 1021 mb high over the northeastern Gulf to near Tampico, Mexico is supporting light to gentle winds and 1 to 2 ft seas for the northeastern Gulf. Moderate to locally fresh ENE winds and seas at 3 to 5 ft exist in the eastern Bay of Campeche. Gentle to moderate ESE to SE winds and seas of 2 to 3 ft prevail for the rest of the Gulf. For the forecast, the surface ridge will support gentle to moderate winds and slight seas across most of the Gulf this week. Fresh E winds will briefly pulse west of the Yucatan Peninsula during the evening hours through midweek due to a diurnal trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA... Refer to the Tropical Waves and Monsoon Trough/ITCZ sections for weather affecting the Caribbean Sea. A 1022 mb Bermuda High continues to channel NE to ENE trades across the entire basin. Fresh to strong winds with 7 to 10 ft seas are present over the central and southwestern basin. Gentle winds and seas at 5 to 7 ft in easterly swell exist just north of Panama. Gentle to moderate with locally fresh winds and seas of 4 to 6 ft prevail for the remainder of the basin. For the forecast, fresh to strong trade winds and rough seas will persist over the central Caribbean into midweek, then diminish slightly afterward. The eastern Caribbean will experience moderate to fresh trades, while the northwestern Caribbean can expect mainly gentle to moderate E winds and slight seas through Sat. ...ATLANTIC OCEAN... A TUTT cell southeast of Bermuda near 22N59W is generating isolated thunderstorms from 21N to 29N between 57W and 61W. Refer to the Tropical Waves and Monsoon Trough/ITCZ sections for additional weather in the Atlantic Basin. The Azores and Bermuda Highs are sustaining light to gentle winds and seas of 3 to 5 ft north of 22N between 32W and the Georgia/Florida coast. To the south, gentle to moderate ENE trades and 5 to 7 ft seas are evident from 09N to 22N between 32W and the Lesser Antilles. Near the Canary and northern Cabo Verde Islands, gentle to moderate NNE to NE trades and seas at 4 to 5 ft are found north of 18N between the northwest African coast and 32W. Light to gentle monsoonal and southeasterly winds with 4 to 6 ft seas prevail for the rest of the Atlantic Basin. For the forecast west of 55W, the ridge connecting the Bermuda and Azores Highs will prevail along 30N through Tue night, then lift north of the area. Fresh to strong winds will pulse north of Hispaniola and in the approaches to the Windward Passage during the late afternoons and overnight hours from mid to late week. $$ Chan
