Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0930 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... ...GALE-FORCE WINDS FOR THE CARIBBEAN SEA... NE gale-force winds and sea heights ranging from 8 feet to 10 feet are present in the coastal waters of Colombia from 11N to 12N between 74W and 76W. The wind speeds will slow down to less than gale-force this morning then return to gale- force tonight. Please, refer to the following website: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/MIAHSFAT2.shtml, for more details. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra Leone near 06N10W to 02N23W. The ITCZ continues from 02N23W to 01N30W to the Equator at 37W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 02N to 06N between 30W and 37W. GULF OF MEXICO... A stationary front stretches from near Apalachicola, Florida along the northern Gulf to 28N93W. Convection previously associated with this weakening boundary has dissipated. Widespread fog, some dense, is noted within about 60 nm of the coast of the United States. Winds are generally gentle to moderate out of the east, with seas of 2 to 4 ft. The stationary front is expected to lift north while dissipating today. Throughout the northern Gulf, areas of fog prevail due to very warm moist area over cooler waters. Fog will continue to be possible into late week. A cold front will move off the coast Thu, then reach from the Florida Panhandle to the Bay of Campeche early Fri, where it will stall through Sat evening. Strong to near gale force winds will affect the far western Gulf early Fri through Sat night. CARIBBEAN SEA... Moderate to fresh trades are carrying isolated clusters of convection throughout much of the basin early this morning. A zone of fresh to strong winds extends over the central Caribbean from Hispaniola to Colombia and Venezuela. See Special Features section above for details on gales ongoing off the coast of Colombia. Seas average 5 to 7 ft across the basin, with 8 to 10 ft seas observed N of Colombia. High pressure north of the Caribbean Sea will continue to support fresh to strong trade winds over the central and portions of the SW Caribbean into the start of next week. Gale force winds will pulse off the coast of Colombia early this morning and again tonight, with near gale conditions prevailing into Fri night. Moderate to fresh winds in the Gulf of Honduras will increase to fresh to strong Thu night trough Fri night. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A stationary front extends from 32N72W to near Daytona Beach, Florida. No precipitation is associated with this front, but along and north of the boundary, areas of fog are ongoing near the FL coast. To the east, a cold front extends from 32N32W to 25N59W. Scattered moderate convection extends within 90 nm of this boundary. To the north of the boundary, moderate NE winds are occurring, but N swell generated from an associated low pressure system well N of the area is causing seas of 8 to 14 ft. Between the two frontal systems, subtropical ridging dominates, anchored by a 1025 mb high pressure centered near 32N58W and a 1023 mb high centered near 27N29W. To the south of this ridging, S of 20N, moderate to fresh trades dominate with seas of 5 to 7 ft. A stationary front will move north of the area today as a warm front. Near this boundary, patchy fog can be expected. The boundary will stall again tonight and remain just north of the area through at least Thu night, before possible moving south back into the area as a cold front Fri. Strong high pressure northeast of the area will support fresh to strong winds between Hispaniola and Turks and Caicos as well as in the approaches of the Windward Passage into the weekend. $$ KONARIK
