Gulf of Mexico Gale Warning: A cold front will move through the western Gulf Wed night and early Thu, bringing strong winds behind it. Gales will develop Thu offshore Veracruz by midday and continue into the evening. Seas of 8 to 10 ft are also possible. Winds and seas will decrease Thu night. Eastern Atlantic Gale Warning: Gale force winds are expected to develop in METEO FRANCE forecast areas of Irving, Madeira, and Agadir later today. Gales will continue into Thu for Irving and Madeira. The monsoon trough passes through the coastal border sections of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 06N20W. The ITCZ continues from 06N20W to 04N30W and 05N45W. Precipitation previously associated with these features has diminished. GULF OF MEXICO... Please see Special Features section above for information on a Gale Warning offshore Veracruz, Mexico, Thu. A cold front extends from near Fort Myers, Florida, to 27N92W, then becomes stationary to near Corpus Christi, Texas. No convection is associated with this front, and no precipitation is occurring in the Gulf of Mexico this morning. To the N of the front, gentle to moderate NE to E winds are occurring, to the S of the front, moderate SE winds prevail. The cold front in the northern Gulf will weaken and slight east today. Another cold front will exit the Texas coast this evening, then stretch from the Florida Panhandle to the Yucatan Peninsula Thu night, and exit the basin early Fri. Behind the front, strong NW winds will prevail, with a period of gales offshore Veracruz Thu. CARIBBEAN SEA... A stationary front passes from central Cuba to near Tulum, Mexico. Scattered moderate convection is associated within 120 miles either side of the boundary, mainly W of 85W, close to the Mexican coast. The monsoon trough extends from northern Colombia near 11N73W, across Panama, beyond NW Costa Rica, and into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Scattered convection has developed south of this trough. Elsewhere across the basin, moderate trade winds prevail. Scattered moderate convection has developed south of Hispaniola, and scattered fast-moving showers and thunderstorms are pushing west toward the coast of Nicaragua. Locally strong easterly winds are likely pulsing early this morning off the coast of Colombia. Generally moderate trades will prevail over the basin into late week, with nightly pulses of strong winds expected off the Colombia coast. A stationary front from Cuba to the Yucatan will dissipate tonight. A cold front will enter the Yucatan Channel Thu night and linger in the NW Caribbean through the weekend. ATLANTIC OCEAN... Please see Special Features section above for information on gale conditions in the far eastern Atlantic. A cold front extends from just W of Bermuda to near Fort Pierce, Florida, this morning. No convection is associated with this front, but strong NW winds and seas of 8 to 10 ft prevail N of the front, to the N of 28N. Farther E, another cold front stretches from 32N49W to the SE Bahamas, then becomes stationary into central Cuba. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are located along this front in the SE Bahamas as well as N of 28N and E of 65W. To the N of 27N and between 45W and 65W, strong winds are occurring on both sides of the front, with seas of 8 to 11 ft. Elsewhere to the south of the boundary, mainly gentle winds prevail as high pressure of 1016 mb, centered near 22N61W, dominates. Over the eastern Atlantic, a cold front extends from 32N19W to 24N30W, then stalls and continues W to 21N50W. No significant convection is noted with this front S of 32N. To the east of 25W, gales will develop behind this front later today. For the forecast W of 65W, high pressure has moved E of the area, and a cold front is drapped from 26N65W to the SE Bahamas, where it stalls and continues into central Cuba. This front will weaken as it slides east of the area by Thu. Another cold front from 31N72W to the Florida Peninsula is producing strong NW winds behind it. This front will race east of the area also by Thu, with strong winds behind it mainly staying N of 27N. Yet another cold front will move off the Florida coast late Thu night, bringing a broad area of strong to near gale force winds on both sides of it N of 27N through Sat. $$ KONARIK
