DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hector was located near latitude 13.8 North, longitude 120.4 West. Hector is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected today. A turn toward the west is forecast tomorrow, with the westward motion likely lasting a few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Hector could become a hurricane on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center.
