DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Celia was located near latitude 15.0 North, longitude 122.5 West. Celia is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through Monday. A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast to begin by Monday night. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through Monday. Slow weakening is forecast to begin on Tuesday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km).
