The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A turn toward the west is expected later today, and this motion should continue for the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm later today.
