DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Celia was located near latitude 17.2 North, longitude 108.9 West. Celia is moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). A continued west-northwestward motion with a gradual increase in forward speed is expected through Monday. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible, and Celia could become a hurricane tonight or on Saturday. Gradual weakening is expected to begin on Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) to the east of the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 mb (29.33 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells are affecting portions of the southwestern coast of Mexico and will spread northward to the southern Baja California peninsula and the coast of west-central Mexico today and Saturday.
