DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Eighteen-E was located near latitude 9.6 North, longitude 90.5 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn to the west is expected to occur tonight, and this motion, along with a gradual increase in forward speed is forecast through the weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and the depression could become a tropical storm by Friday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches).
