DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paul was located near latitude 17.1 North, longitude 117.5 West. Paul is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue for another day or two. A turn to the west-northwest is expected to occur by late Monday or Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, but slow weakening is expected to begin by Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
