DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Kristy was located near latitude 20.5 North, longitude 130.1 West. Kristy is moving toward the north near 9 mph (15 km/h). A gradual slowing of the forward motion and a turn to the northwest is expected over the next day or so. Kristy is then expected to turn west-northwestward early next week. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady weakening is expected for the next couple of days, and Kristy is forecast to become a remnant low by Sunday evening. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb (29.39 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
