DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Kristy was located near latitude 13.7 North, longitude 127.1 West. Kristy is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A decrease in forward speed and a turn to the west-northwest are expected tonight and Wednesday, followed by a turn to the northwest by Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast, and Kristy could become a hurricane within a couple of days. Weakening is expected to begin by Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
